For many posts, add up the numbers for all of them, then enter how many posts. We average by post for the follower rate. Nothing leaves your browser.

0 interactions.

Instagram

Enter your numbers to see how you compare. Typical on Instagram is 0.30% to 0.50% by followers.

Benchmarks are rounded and vary by industry and follower count. Small accounts often score higher, big ones lower.

The formulas, in plain words.

Interactions = likes + comments + shares + saves.

By followers = interactions per post, divided by followers, times 100. Easy, and the most common.

By reach = interactions, divided by the people who saw the post, times 100. Fairer, because it ignores people who never saw it.

By views = interactions, divided by views, times 100. Views count repeat plays, so this rate is usually the lowest of the 2 reach-style rates.

Some networks do not show saves or shares. Leave those at 0.

Typical rates, 8 networks.

Rounded. They vary by industry and by follower count, so use them as a rough guide, not a grade.

Do not compare a follower rate with a views rate. They are different maths. We say "around typical" when you are within 20% of the range. We could not find a public follower-based rate for YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads or Pinterest, so those use the views or reach rate.

Know which posts work, then do more of them.

A rate tells you how you are doing. It does not tell you why. Compare the same post type week to week, and look at the best 3 posts each month. Mirkaat keeps all your brands and 8 networks in 1 calendar, so you can see what you posted and when, then plan the next week in minutes.

Engagement rate questions.

8 answers. Anything else: hello@mirkaat.com

01What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

About 0.3% to 0.5% when you divide by followers. Rival IQ puts the median near 0.3%, and Socialinsider puts the average near 0.48%. If you divide by reach instead, the same account will score much higher.

02What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?

About 2% to 3.7% by followers. Rival IQ's median is near 2% and Socialinsider's average is near 3.7%. TikTok scores the highest of the big networks because videos reach people who do not follow you.

03What is a good engagement rate on LinkedIn?

About 5% to 6.5% when you divide by views. Socialinsider's 2026 average is about 5%, and Buffer's 2025 study found 6.5%. Company pages usually score lower than personal profiles.

04How do I calculate engagement rate?

Add likes, comments, shares and saves. Divide by followers. Multiply by 100. For many posts, divide the total by the number of posts first, so you get the average post.

05Engagement rate by followers or by reach: which one?

By followers is the simplest and the one most benchmarks use. By reach is fairer, because it only counts people who saw the post. Pick 1 and stay with it, so your numbers can be compared month to month.

06How many interactions do I need for a 3% rate?

Multiply your followers by the rate. With 10,000 followers and a 3% goal, that is 300 interactions per post. Use the "What do I need?" tab to do the sum for any size and any rate.

07How do I compare 2 accounts fairly?

Use the same formula for both. If you divide 1 account by followers and the other by reach, the numbers do not match. Turn on "Compare 2 accounts" and we use the same rate for both. Remember that a small account will often score higher than a big one.

08Why does my rate look low?

Check the formula first. A reach rate and a follower rate are not the same thing. Then check your size. Large accounts score lower, and small accounts score higher. Industry changes it too.
